To do or not to do? Appreciate views...

Post by Graeme »

Hello all,

Just joined the forum (pleased to meet all! and hopefully not short lived!). I picked up this 1991 FZR pretty cheap around 2 years ago (call it a bad bike collecting habit).

It is in what I would call "ok" condition. Unfortunately the bodywork is suffering from a paint colour that fades and some neglect from an old drop or spill.

Half of me wants to restore it, the other half things it could be a money pit give probably needs a full respray.

The bit that is getting me is the paint job is dealer original. One of the old London deals from back in the 90s did a limited edition run and I still have the plaque validating it.

Honest thoughts??

Thanks, Graeme.

Get it done and don't spoil the boat for a halfpenny a tar.

Oh and welcome to the mad house.
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

Wotcha and welcome - I am with the others - that paint job really pops but I would also suggest shorter dog bones braided hoses and completing a blue spot caliper conversion :o)

If it's just the bodywork then just do it!

Thanks everyone!

Law of averages says do it then! It's going in for a check over at my local garage next week so unless they tell me it's mechanically "screwed" it appears I have just gained a project :retard:

Will keep everyone posted on progress... ha and yes will probably need to pick your brains along the way!
