Fork dis-mantling tool

Does anyone know the shape , size and length , of the tool required to lock

the the fork inner nut whilst undoing the outer cap head screw at

bottom of the fork leg ???????

I have used a half-inch dowel with a tapered end, but like most I just gut the bolt loose using an impact gun. Never fails and is the easiest way to do it back up so the copper washer seals.

I've welded a 30mm nut to an old half inch drive socket. The 30mm nut fits the bit in side the fork. I add two extension bars on to it. I then bolt it in the vice and undo the bottom nut with a large Allen key. If you can wait till tomorrow I'll post a photo up to show it.

Thanks stiggy. That helped me out a bit.

I've been playing with this computer program and it's taken ages to get these two photos on here. At least I can get to do photos now.

Here's what I meant TTS. Ignore the 29mm its actually 30mm.

When I done mine years ago the consensus was to stick a brush handle in it and give it a chap in.
Worked perfectly for me.
