The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

Blue/Gold spot calipers upgrade >> BRAKE PADS MOD

Post by yo4hgx »

After replacing the front brake calipers with an R1'03 gold spot set I've noticed the brake pads (EBC HH) are too wide and will actually touch the discs rivets (or how are called that things that makes the discs floating).

To complete the upgrade the brake pads will have to be modified too, removing around 3mm from the lower edge.

I believe from memory that it only affects the upside down models and the 750

Theres no issues of them catching the bobbins on the RWU forks

You may be right... I wish I knew it before the "bobbins" (that's how are called?) reached the pads back metal plates. Kind of funny feeling...

This may sound silly but have you bought the right pads for the calipers?
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

No silly, it's what I suspected in the first place as well but turned out the pads were right. It's just the blue/gold calipers and discs size/position on this particular model. Said to let people know, perhaps it should be mentioned in the forum modification tutorial as well?...
