Metal filings in oil

Post by rexeriot »

Hi all. Have had my 1000 89 exup for a little while. Gave it a service today and found tiny metal filings in the oil and oil filter housing. Having a look on certain threads it suggests clutch basket or clutch plate breakdown. The bike goes fine with just a minor cam chain rattle when cold. The clutch seems fine. No clutch basket rattle. I've just changed the clutch master cylinder as it went last week. The clutch feels exactly the same as before. It has always been a heavy clutch compared to my ZRX and bites quite late. Does this mean a clutch problem or is this norm with an Exup? Any ideas what the filings might be? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I always stick to the speed limits. Its just that the ones in our area they seem to have missed all the " 0's " off the end.
