Cleaning inside of the fuel tank

Post by RobJPS »

Quick question my tank is full of flaked off paint!
Image

god knows why the rim was painted but this is probably the reason the previous owner said it ran like a bag of shit.

I have read that white vinegar is great for cleaning it out if left for a few days?
Anyone have any advise please.

I have a new fuel filter and pipe once its clean.

dont use vinegar or any acid to clean your tank, get some bilt hamber deox-c and do it properly.

you can even line the inside of your tank with a fuel-proof liner then if you want...

also, your fuel filter should stop paint and bits of rust from getting to the carbs under normal usage, i would also lok at the fuel tank filters as they might be full of crap causing fuel starvation...or loads of crap in the fuel tap...

Take it off and fill it with cheap coca cola, it strips anything off.
Google it, lol.
