FZR1000 RU 95 project

Post by RobJPS »

Well I have only had this 3 weeks and its my first winter project for a long time. The plan is a naked streetfighter look, I have only found a couple of issues one of them is damage to the swing arm so thats getting removed and repaired and the exup valve that is now fixed. The bike was in a state but it should be finished and on the road for March?? its going to Spain in April for 10 day tour with my mates.

This is how it looked when I got it

Got my mate to chop a damaged can and pleased with it now

A few more hours in the shed

Nasty damage found where left foot plate has gone into swing arm!

Now taking swing arm out for a repair

Will post more after Xmas :D

Looking good Rob. Keep the photo's coming.
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

Cheers Robbo my mate is going to have a look see if it can be repaired but if not I will get back to you.

I am changing the chain & sprockets so and am I right in thinking a 16 front 47 back will give me better acceleration ?

basically divide the larger number by the smaller to give the ratio. The lower the ratio the better the acceleration and less top speed ...and vice versa

Std gearing is 17/47.
I run 16/47 without any clearance issues. It accelerates better and theres no noticable difference at the top coz it doesnt go there any more due to all the cameras about

Also go for 530 pitch instead of the OEM 532

R1's run 530 so the pitch is more than up to the task, plus as its more common a pitch its also alot cheaper

Great progress

Wish I had the same with the twincam. Seem to spend more time making room for my lad to clutter it up again. Managed to at least clear some space over Xmas & get the fuel additive in the bike for the winter

There isn't a gasket fitted to that cover as there's no fluid to contain from within
