well started getting the bike ready for the mot over the last week... just incase theres the little niggly jobs that it fails on giving time to get sorted.
got all the bodywork sprayed up along with the TANK, well didn't go quite as expected. took tank off to just tidy thing up. then noticed petrol leaking out of the front of the tank by the mounting bracket along the front edge.
surely it aint gonna pass like that and well its not really safe either so ordered a tank of eBay and fitted today.
just in time booked in for the morning.......
mot time...
well it failed,
wrong length nut in rear suspension linkage. it had a wagon shock of which is wider in the body. swapped back to another shock.
headlights out of alignment. all sorted and set up in the garage.
front breaks binding / not releasing.
well took the breaks apart and fitted new seals, cleaned pistons. new break fluid.
still have a problem with the breaks binding although not as bad but still not free running. but then there is not as much pressure on them.
would the front wheel turn freely with the breaks off or do you still get some drag..
thoughts..... before i take it back for the retest....

there is a slight drag of the wheels but they still rotate fairly freely
Did you clean out the grroves behind the seals. They tend to corrode/oxidize which in turn doesnt allow the seal to sit all the way back ito its groove. Binding may also be due to new pads not yet being worn to the surface of the disc. Also check the brake lever isnt reasting against the piston in the master cylinder....its been known for some aftermarket levers to push slightly on the pistons causing binding due to fluid not releasing back to the MC

AKA Bald headed b'stard
yeah cleaned em all out.. they're r1 gold's have replaced the MC also, just got to wire the break light up. he showed me at the mot station and they were really hard to move, took some effort. although they now spin without much effort but don't do a complete turn. are not as tight as they were before..
you can hear a slight rub when they come to a halt.
