Little confused

My 1989 genesis as air ducts above the lights but on others I see they are below I'm not sure if it's the original fairing as it's been painted any one shed any light on this for me ?

The earlier Genesis had the ducts higher up. This was on the pre-exup model produced between 85-88

The newer EXUP models from 89 onwards had the lower ducts.

Have a look at your frame if you're unsure what model you have. The earlier ones were steel cradles with an indent in the large spar that wraps around the tank area. The later EXUP models had aluminium frames

So I am guessing mine not original fairing being a 1989 model,I better put a pic of it up before I change it

You might find that yours could be a late registered Genesis....it may have been hanging around the showroom for a while before it was sold.... it once took the dealership I used to work in 3 years to sell an FZX750

Only thing that makes me think differant is its sprayed black and where it's scratched in differant places you can see blue under back panels ,white under side fairings and orange under tank lol

Have a look at this link about the exup valve. Click on the photos to enlarge them.

You will find it on the left hand side of your bike underneath the gear lever.

If you can't see anything that looks like what the pictures are showing then you have a Genesis model.

If you have this exup valve on your exhaust then you have an 89/90 model.

What size is your rear wheel?
If its 18" its the earlier Genesis.
If its 17" its an Exup.
Also the engines on the Genesis are black while the Exups are silver, I think.
