Need help with camchain guide-90 fzr

The place to come to share your technical expertise, or just find out what the little springy thing is that's just pinged out of sight under the work-bench.

Need help with camchain guide-90 fzr

Post by svenD »

Hey Folks
Have just discovered that the guide(the long curved one) in the motor I just fitted barrel and head to is trash :crybaby:
- Any way to change it without tearing down the top again?
- could the end of the guide perhaps be accesed from underneath, thru the sump?
- And if it comes to that, can I reuse the headgasket?
- How is it held in place, bolted or "klicked"?
Any suggetions please!

Hi SvenD, welcome in!

I think you will find it's a top end strip down again.
Assuming the head Gasket is brand new and the engine not run you will be ok to re-use it.

Thanks Fats!
Nice 2 know the gaskets are reusable since they is pretty spensive.
Its only the guide that the tensioner acts on thats u/s the others look fine, the motor only has 80k onit and som 15-20K since t valves were done :(

well godt the head and cylblock off again to access the damaged tensioner guide, and it looks like the bottem end will have to be split to gain access to the two bolts holding the hinge-thing at the bottem of the guide.Doesent that open a can of worms!
