A light action clutch for the 'Ace

Hi all

Just a quicky. Does anyone know if a lighter action clutch is possible? The ace one gets heavy quite quickly.

Once again, as with the bar risers, I may have to take matters in to my own hands and do some hardcore research in to what makes a clutch easier, then cobble something together.

Unless someone knows, is it slave cylinder diameter? Or to do with master cylinder bore? Who knows, but I will investigate further.

Maybe a free bridgeport at my place of work can help me out.

I have high bars on mine & have fitted XJR1300 Master cylinder, I have a fairly light clutch, also my clutch is standard no heavy duty springs etc...
but it is a Thunderace clutch in my RU...
I don't know if this helps..

you could try using a yzf 750 mclnder that might help

Good idea. I'm assuming that has a different bore size or something then? Am I right in thinking it has a remote resevoir?

If the bore is the same, I doubt it'd make any difference.

The YZF is a remote but the bore size is no bigger than the exup...
Not sure what route you need to go down.. :(

Apparently, the smaller the bore on the master cylinder, the easier it is, but the longer the stroke needed to provide the same pressure. Which means the lever would have to come back to the bar.

So, on this premise, would a larger diameter slave have the same results? Only without the lever coming back to the bar?

I have a ZXR750R master cylinder on my '90 Exup-R, together with a braided steel line & set of heavy duty clutch springs from PDQ. The clutch pull is light as the adjustable lever works well. I replaced the seals in the slave cylinder about 2,000 miles ago & while doing that I pulled the clutch rod out & cleaned the chain lube off. It all makes it worthwhile :nod:

I put a Aprilia RSV 1000 clutch master cylinder on my YZF. It made a world of difference. Much lighter and smoother clutch action. Its a radial brembo so a bit pricey but awesome nonetheless.

I still have it in my basement.
