starter clutch

hi.
what does it take to change the starter clutch on one of these? is it a big job? do you need to split cases.
FZR 1000 by the way :)
I thought it was you with a wooly jumper on honey!!!!

Yeah cases need splitting, its one of the first things you put in the engine during a rebuild. I can do the work for you if you need it and don't wanna work on the engine yourself, and I'm cheap and good.

I take it that your getting the grating sound when the sprag clutch dies, hence changing it?

I was offered a bike at a "steal" cos it had a little niggle.....

needless to say I don't consider the price to be that good :D
add to the fact it does not look like it has been well looked after so the thought of dropping the engine out does not excite me.
