Gold spot master cylinder

Gold spot master cylinder

Hi I have a 98 Ace with gold spots and original master cylinder . I am looking to upgrade to an R1 or R6 master cylinder and wondered if anyone could tell me the O/D required so I get the right one first time . The one I have now works but a bit numb feeling .

You should get one from an 05 onward. The model with radial brakes. Its a brembo and really improves the brakes.
I can also recommend the Honda CBR 1000RR master cylinder. Really nice piece of kit.

The Ace has the same bore MC as the R1 & R6 so should be OK with the gold spots. If the brakes are numb you may want to check for air or tired seals in the MC

As said above the radial version is supposed to improve things yet further. i have one but its not fitted yet so cant say how much better

You need a 14mm bore M/C as they are what the Blue/Gold Spots were optimised for. Any of the following will work.

OP already has the MC for an ACE as thats whats fitted as std........

I have the 05 R1 Brembo radial MC with silver spots and they work a treat.

Thank you for the help on this . I don't think its got air in as it feels consistently solid at the lever . Master cylinder is 16 now so may need a service . Might look at newer kit now I am sure its a 14mm I need
