Hi there folks, just wondering if anybody has tried an alternative radiator on an fzr 1000 ru, my problem is that I tried to straighten out the fins and ended up with this
.
Was also wanting to move the fan switch and temperature sensor out of sight as there is going to be no fairing, as far as I can tell they have done away with the fan switch on the fz1 and have a temp unit in the thermostat housing. I can do this with an aftermarket temperature housing but that means doing away with the temp sensor or I fit 2 housings. Any thoughts would be appreciated, would have been out for a wee spin on sunday if i could have got the clutch bled. This is where im at after 8 months and a fortune in powder coating.

you can mount a temperature sensor into one of these - Temperature Sensors
you might even be able to find an adaptor to have your thermostat in-line as well? or get one made, its only a bit of aly...

btw, that radiator looks fucked, i doubt any amount of straightening is gonna bring it back to life.
once the encrusting starts with all the road debris, its really hard to remove it...

There are quite a few companies which do recoring of aluminium rads. I'm not sure about in your area but I'll bet someone like this could help.

Cheers guys, aye the rad is well fooked was thinking of buying one of the chinese made rads of ebay either an r1 or an fz1 but not sure what there like , very cheap tho 80 odd quid for an r1 rad, looking at secondhand ones aswell. Have looked into re-coring the radiator but looks quite expensive, 200 to 300 pounds i've been quoted.
