Have you got a pic of it? I know the RU rear light fits the R model and vice versa, I've the backing plate that needs a lens but it's very nearly for the bin too, maybe we can match the pair and make a happy family.

Just had a look on the net and I don't think the R lens is compatible with the Thunderarse brake lens, was worth a try.
