Exup cable routing

Post by Purity Vendetta »

Hi, I'm feeling a bit of a prat about this one but no matter how hard I wrack my brain I can't seem to remember the proper routing for the exup cables on my '92 FZR 1000 and it's driving me nuts. Does anyone by any chance have a diagram or pics which might be helpful?

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

Not totally sure for the RU (mines the R model) but it runs between the engine and swing arm pivot bolt. I've just had a quick look in the tech sectin cable routing diagrams but at a quick glance cant see it.

Should image one of the other RU owners will be able to confirm and will be along shortly

yea they come out of the solenoid towards the engine block curve round towards the rear of the engine then drop down over the top of the rear engine bolt and between the back of the engine and the swingarm.

Thanks guys, normally I can remember where thing like this go almost photographically but the headers aren't on the bike as I'm having to re-tap the thread in the centre of the exup valve spindle. I'll have a fiddle about following the advice you've given.

Hahaha ain't that always the way, hope the student doesn't cause you too much hassle banner. What do you teach? I just can't help myself but be nosy :)

I should have time to tap out the thread in the exup valve spindle tomorrow so I'll at least have a target for the cables to aim for. The headers weren't fitted so it was always going to be a rough guess as to good routing.

told you i would forget again :D

This is how mine is routed:

Cable comes from the exup servo and heads to the RHS of the bike

they go through the gap in the swingarm towards the right hand side of the bike

then they come back to the left side and connect into the servo

ive got a doctorate in molecular biology, so im helping her with her undergraduate project, we are doing research into the specifics of mRNA translation and mRNA degradation in yeast.
