Carb Gasket Rebuild Kit

Post by Fizzermartin »

Just been looking at the Tour Max gasket/ o -ring kits I've purchased for overhauling my carbs . Have managed to identify 3 of the o-rings supplied as float o-ring ,carb top o-ring ( the small one next to the diaphragm) and the o-ring that sits between the carb body and plastic slide ( where the toob slides in). Does anyone know where the last o-ring might go , I'm guessing it could be for the air screw the one you turn 2 1/2 turns out although I have noticed there looks like there are 2 o-rings that sit under 2 of the jets in the jet block

It will be for the main jet in the jet block.
If it's like the YZF750 then the jet is a push fit into the jet block with a clamp that secures it in place.
Not sure about there being two o-rings within the jet block, I think there should only be the one.

Cheers fatdog

Think the carbs on yzf750 must be differant to fzr1000 ru as my jets defiantly screw into the jet block and not held down by clamp
I will remove the air jet ( the one that sits outside the float bowl) at the weekend and have a look to see if the o-ring looks the same size as the one I have left in my rebuild kit

from memory fzr1000 exup r has 4 o-rings:
1. between main jet and carb body (main jet screws into jet holder)
2. on the pilot adjuster after the spring and washer
3. on the fuel float where it presses into the carb body
4. the plastic bit that slides out the middle of the carb, taking the brass tube with it has a o-ring.

Don't forget the one under the carb cap!

Thanks for all the advise guys will have a look at the pilot adjuster o-ring to see if it matches up with the last o-ring I have in my kit

Carb gasket rebuild kit

Post by Fizzermartin »

Ok I think I know why I couldn't work out where all the o- rings go in the carb re-build kit
At some stage in its previous life the carbs had been overhauled and the main jet o-ring was not replaced ,just re-assembled with no o-ring
Have now got the carbs back on the bike after Stig worked his magic with his ultrasonic cleaning tank and the bike runs beautifully
I have made a record of all the measurements of the o-rings supplied in the kit useing my new digital Calipers I've recently purchased and now have all the info about sizes of o- rings needed in a carb rebuild (apart from air mixture screw)as that's the only one not supplied in the Tour Max rebuild kit
