cable routing

hi guys, the manuals are less than clear about which cables go where, and as my bike arrived with most of it hanging off im unsure as to a few things.

im trying to tidy up the cabling and do a full re-wire at the same time for my '89 1000 fighter, im not using the "air intake holes" for anything (might blank them), im trying to squeeze all the cabling through the two holes with rubber inserts near to the headstock, and i want to see how far from stock i am.

currently like this:-
left opening has the clutch hose bent 90 degrees and dissapears into the frame, ive also got the throttle cable (no return) and the right hand switch gear going through there...and thats about it, no more room.

right opening ive got the left hand switch gear, ignition and the clocks/headlights/indicators/horn.

does this seem about right, the manual makes it look like the standard fared bike has the cable for the clocks going between the underside of the left side of the frame and the left hand side of the engine, before heading up to the clocks, presumably under the panel for the reserve switch and under the air intake??

has anyone routed theirs differently.

That sounds about right John.

I've got all my front end off at the minute because I'm putting new headrace bearings in. Taken a few photos to see if it helps you route things differently. There's a lot of things dangling and it was a bit tricky trying to get clear photos. Hope it helps.

so as standard, the "control cables" (throttle, clutch) go through the left port, the electrics go through the right port with the exception of the spur that includes the clocks, indicators etc...

Also through the right port is the front brake switch wire.

I've run all of my cable connectors under the tank through the front cutouts. I've also run the throttle & clutch cables through the frame. Much neater without lots of connectors on show as I don't have the inserts fitted.

i was considering removing the rubber inserts, you've not had any problems with rubbing/chaffing...
