nice one! Got to think about a simpler solution to holding the adapter into the compressor...maybe some sort of circlip/roll pin or grub screw effect

a split pin would be best, but its not getting dissassembled anytime soon, so the cable tie is fine.

on my spec here i do have a hole drilled, but decided it would be fine without it...plus if i move it to another tool it will probably fit, if it had a defined height it might be more difficult.

PS - i took all 12 inlet valves out in a grand time of just over 16 minutes with this tool :D

my plastigauge has arrived, need to clean the lower crankcase half and then i can start some of the rebuild :D

well i can build the crankcase components up at least, put all the starter gears and transmission gears back, then it will be the oil pan and then as funds become available i will start the top end.

I can do some more if needed. Would need the diameter of the part that fits into your own spring compreeor tho'.
I'll need to get some more material so cant say how much they'll charge...the last bit was from an off cut the supplier had laying around. How quick do you need it?

Paul;If there was clearance within the arms of the compressor ,what about a groove around the circumference and an O ring to secure.
Thing is each type of compressor will be slightly different but that would also come into play with the split pin or circlip scenerio.

with a split pin you could drill in an offset spiral pattern so that you would be able to fix it at various heights...:D

Aye,probably just as easy to just get the owner to drill it to suit the compressor or before you know it there would be that many extra operations to perform at manufacture; production costs would escalate.

off to get a price for some o-rings etc to rebuild the bottom half of the engine, also my seat should be getting delivered soon so i can get a mock-subframe sorted soon too :D

checked the crank and conrod oil clearances, all fine, towards the loose end of the spectrum, but as i dont have "new" shell bearings i cant know what they would be as "new". going to buy some nice new castrol semi-synth 10W-40 oil today and get the rebuild underway!

not looking forward to cleaning the oil pan though...caked isnt the word...
