I have just re-read what you originally said. Sorry, I'm a bit dumb sometimes.creedxup wrote:No, if it runs to the bottom of the bottle and it's covered by coolant it'll be fine.dieffe wrote:That's what I have been told by someone else so the blue tube runs to the bottom of the bottle inside, will that be OK or do I have to redo it?creedxup wrote:The overflow tube from the radiator has to be submerged in fluid so that when the coolant cools down it sucks fluid back into the rad rather than air, it needs to be routed to the bottom of the container.
One year on.

I have been playing with the bars today. I'm not sure if they look right, I've got my new clutch master cylinder all polished up to match the brake one. The problem is if I match the distance from the center of the riser to the pots the levers are out, if I match the levers up the pots are out.
Looks like a compromise is on the cards.

Cheers Andy, but I never want to clean another engine again though no doubt another project will come along after I lose loads of money on this one.andyyam750 wrote:Great work mate, the bike is coming together really really well. Braw job on the engine, you don't fancy doing my 1000 lump for my YZF750 conversion do you??
But seriously top work buddy...

Well the shock reservoir goes great with the little gold pot that parappadog gave me so I'm well made up with that.
I was also looking at footrests brackets and was trying to figure out if I could make some rearset type ones but then thought that the original ones might look OK. I cut the middle bit out and buffed them up a bit and to me they look fine so I'm going to use them, I can always change them later on if I change my mind.
Finally finished the subframe so I can use the glue tin for something else now.
Plus it has given me somewhere to stick all the electric thingys as well so that's a bonus.
At this rate I could get it finished this year (maybe).

I got my yokes back today after a design fault with my single block riser, the top nut got in the way.
Anyway, Sam at Kaitech machined a recess into the top yoke and made a special nut so that the top is now flush. Sorted.
I couldn't wait to put the front end back on and see how it all fit together.
One issue I've got is that I ordered a set of front lines for the FZR, forgetting that I've got an R1 front end and also high bars. One line sort of reaches but the other is way too short, I'll have to get one made a bit longer.
I threw the tank and seat on and dragged it outside to see how it now looked.
I think the lights could be a little further back against the forks but on the whole I'm fairly happy.
Anyone any ideas for an exhaust. I don't want a can of any sort, maybe some sort of short little turnout, I dunno.
One thing I must do is a brazen plug for Sam at Kaitech Precision Engineering. The bloke is billiant and will bend over backwards to make your one off from the scrawl you give him and also sort out the mess you make by not thinking things through properly. Top man.
