My new toy....

Post by surfer69 »

Just bought myself a Fiat Coupe - it's been breathed on a bit:
Uprated turbo with dash-mounted boost controller and uprated wastegate.
Performance cat bypass stainless exhaust system.
Front-mounted intercooler (normally sited on the side of the engine bay.... why?)
Stage 3 programmed ECU - estimated to put out 270bhp - certainly feels fast!
The suspension's been lowered, eibach adjustable dampers all round and its been fitted with 17" alloys with Toyo Proxy Tyres.

It's got full tan leather interior too and the aircon works.
I'm in love....

Driving it like I stole it.

a mate 3 doors down had one of them about 10 years back. It was yellow. Nice piece of kit, though he eventually swapped it for a S2000

I was interested in in a s2000 too, but need the extra seats occasionally.

2.0 20V Turbo, 5 cylinder.

Just done two timing belts and head gaskets on a couple of cars a lad I know has.

Watch the oil recirc system. Over boost can charge the crank causing oil to be blown into the air inlet and intercooler.

The MAF sensor has a habit of going tits up. As do the immobilisor coil on the ignition. I hope you have the red key!!!!!!!!!!!!

Learn how to break into the bonnet from the outside, the bonnet release cable has a habit of snapping, worth running a fresh one along side the original.

Go like stink in a straight line, but they don't like corners too much. :D

They are a bitch to work on, but a tip for you, YOU CAN change a timing belt without removing the engine!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep u can... took me 3 1/4 hours to do the belt/pump.. Dropped the mounts and used a body jack on the o/s inner wing to get the clearance..
Piece of piss
Fiat charge 20hrs for it!!

Just put a mass air meter on the alfa and on our kids TDi Passat.. They are shite!

Thank God YZFPAUL, my mate Martin (the only guy I know who fell asleep on a motorbike and ran into the wall of a house - has no memory at all) had a Stilo Abarth for 3 months - 2 weeks of which he drove it the rest spent on the forecourt of the garage - his main ECU was to blame. Glad yours is OK though - and it is a seriously quick car the Abarth.

My 55 reg Fiat Scudo has been in 3 times with electrical problems but is a great van none the less and goes like stink for a van.
Something clever goes here but I can't be bothered!
