Newbie - sort of!

Post by lurch »

Hi I'm Rob and I'm an Alcho... oh no wrong meeting!

A few know me from Krazy's FZR1000 site (where's that gone Niel?)
For those that don't I have a Genesis Fighter of 88 vintage that will soon be either in pieces after blowing up or terrorizing R1's and Blades as it's tuned to F**k.

So as a stand in I have just procured (like yesterday) a Triumph 900 Sprint as a Hack KEV.H they are Drag Racing down at Western Zoyland near Bridgewater this Saturday from 12pm onwards, lots of mates running the strip - get on down if you wanna say Hi with the FZR and watch some nice engines/clutches go pop?
Something clever goes here but I can't be bothered!

Hi mate

Neil's been in contact and says the forum will be up again soon.

Is the bike finished?

Welcome in Lurch  Mines a Guinness please :drunk:
Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other.

Hey Lurch, welcome.

I used to have a Triumph Sprint, they have their good points and their bad points, I personally liked mine for touring.

Good to hear the sister/brother/other site will be back up shorty.

Thanks guys, great to be here!!!

No Chris - still waiting for the JE pistons to arrive from California, should be next week sometime, then it's another 2 weeks until they are matched to the bores and Billy sets up the motor ready for me to install.

But I have managed to get the chain & sprockets for the bike and a nice set of TWR levers that look and function much better than the Brembos do. So this weekend I'll fit them and double check the chain run.

Hudders - Will post some pics of the cheeky little Fizzer when I've got the EXUP motor out and the tuned Genesis in.

As for the Sprint Vagabond - like you mines for going up country to see mates and getting into work, it kinda suits me coz I'm tall but have to keep reminding myself it's not a ZZR1100 and can't cruise at 140+

That's cool Kev - there's little point in watching bikes spin it up the strip doing slow times.

Jack Daniels - very popular tipple these days Renegade, I'd better stay on the gay non alcoholic juice this evening as I'm working.

Mods Oldskoolexup - too many but here goes:

Engine; Genesis crank - knife edged and balanced, Thunderace Rods, Je 1070 pistons, GSXR1100 liners bored and decked for the FZR (machined out barrels), Roger Upperton Gasflow and port on a 91 EXUP head, FCR39's for torque and midrange. Kent Fast Road cams, Full Akropovic SS system, Modded clutch basket AKA YZF750 but stronger, all controlled by a Dyna2000 ignition and working off Dyna coils and leads.

Chassis; Thunderace Swingarm, EXUP Ohlins rear shock, brembo caliper, modded swinger - no torque arm and SS axle machined by my mate. Up front are Ohlins FG43's with Brembo Goldline calipers and mastercylinder. Custom yolks by me and a mate, Brembo 5 spoke wheels, Genesis beam frame, subbies now with Neil, carbon rear subframe with a custom R1 style seat unit in carbon & Kevlar. New loom coz the old one was crap

It weighs 392lbs dry and has a wheelbase about 3/4" longer than the current R1. If the motor holds together it's gonna be one scary bike to ride, but best made plans etc... it might just go bang as the conrods make a bid for freedom - who knows????
