Stripped the carbs and did find a load of fine silt in each.
Good clean out and reassemble seems to have done the trick :)

Sounds to me like you've got some crap in the float valves. What I find odd is that you say it's coming out of both overflow pipes. I've never been that unlucky. RU flooding

Story goes; Riding home other night,pulled up in traffic and it cut out,bit reluctant to restart but did.felt quite woolly at low revs but seemed to pull ok. Did it again the following day so lifted tank off today. Found a wire was broken on the resistor by the fuel pump,repaired this.replaced fuel ...

By comparison, my RGV does about 35mpg at a steady 65-70 mph.its got half the power and a quarter of the capacity, guess thats 2 strokes for ya..
Come to think of it, the exup is the most frugal out of all my vehicles

Used my Exup for work yesterday for the 1st time this year,felt great to be back out on it.Had to repair a snapped exup cable bracket over the winter,3 seized and snapped bolts later,drilled them out and replaced with stainless studs.It ran beautifully on the 20 miles to work,best its ran for ages.N...

A shot of my new toy.
I had a play with the carbs today, dropped the needles one notch and wound the pilots out 1/2 turn and she runs loads better, hesitation almost gone.
