Chain broken due to corrosion.

What really need to be addressed is why the chain broke. Hi Bunk, The chain broke due to corrosion rust/pitting. The bike had sat for several years in a cold and damp environment before I purchased it. I hadn't noticed any rust on the chain during previous repairs as it had likely rotated the "...

Cosworth Eng. Ltd - Northampton ENGLAND - New Pistons

FZR Friends, I've certainly missed the interaction with my friends across the pond. However, with a locked up motor there hasn't been much to share - :crybaby: However, today I scored (or so I think) a good deal on a set of brand new pistons. I was at the local Motorcycle Junkyard, which is also a r...

Do you have any precision tools to measure parts? Bunk, Yes. I have the compliment of dial indicators, calipers etc. I certainly don't want to do this again so I won't just put a bunch of parts together. The cylinders (in the e-bay photos) appears to still have a bit of the OEM cross-hatch pattern ...

I will make it run again and HOPEFULLY better than ever! https://i.postimg.cc/rF3BdMH4/FZRCylinder-Purchase-1.jpg Found some nice looking jugs and pistons on Evil-Bay so I BOUGHT ...

I know the failure - CAM CHAIN SNAPPED!

FZR Friends, I couldn't wait and performed a bit of investigation. It's clear what happened. The CAM CHAIN SNAPPED. And, it was totally avoidable. Unfortunately, I was unable to determine the full extent of the damages. https://i.postimg.cc/B6v36BpM/FZR-072422-Cam-Chain-Bottom-2.jpg After pulling th...

THUD....

FZR Friends, Thanks for the ideas and advice on the eventual repair of this machine. I would absolutely LOVE to start ripping into the machine to determine what exactly happened. Unfortunately, at the moment, I've another bike torn apart (a 1979 XS1100 Special) in preparation for my Annual Vintage Y...

THUD! Motor is LOCKED UP! - Parts Compatibility?

FZR Friends, I've had a major problem.... the motor is locked up.. I took my FZR for a quick ride around the block and it LOCKED UP about 1 mile from home. I felt a "THUD" and she was DEAD. I had to push it home the ~1mile. I was a relatively low PRM and certainly not thrashing it in any w...

Good TANKS come to those who wait....

FZR Friends, Just opened the box and couldn't wait to brag on the reward. https://i.postimg.cc/ZqKyNX9q/FZR-Tank-052722.jpg As some of you know, my ExUp had been sitting several years (5+) when I purchased it. The bike had been full of gas when it was stored and the resulting damage to the tank was ...

Leak Appears FIXED.

FZR Friends, Although I didn't see a darn thing wrong with it, I replaced the seal (o-ring) and the leaking problem appears to be resolved. https://i.postimg.cc/1RK5dMrK/FZR-Pump-Leak-041022.jpg The ONLY thing that looked a little out of sorts was the wire for the oil level sensor. I had it running ...

Last time we were in touch, you were very productive with projects at work, did it all go to plan? Nuggitt, Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, work has been difficult the last few years. My most recent job as Maintenance Manager for a large Manufacturing facility ended very abruptly when the c...

Hello Again from Across the pond.....

FZR friends, It's certainly been a very long time since I was last here. I haven't forgotten you or all the help you provided a year or so back. I apologize for my absence and lack of interaction. Although, I have helped with a part or two for Nuggitt and Stig over the last year or so. I'm ALWAYS av...

Thanksgiving Day in the USA

FZR Friends, It's Thanksgiving Day in the USA. A day where we are are to supposed to reflect on our blessings and enjoy family and friends. Due to covid, most of us (those of us with any sense) are keeping the celebration to a minimum. My wife and I are having my 92 year old mother over and that is ...

Oil Lamp Off - The Oil Debate....

FZR Friends, I went to resolve the Oil Lamp Problem and discovered the lamp had reset itself!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) I honestly wasn't looking forward to pulling the exhaust and all the covers etc. just to get to that level sensor. Since I had added some oddball oil to the machine, when I thought there...
