ey everyone, just thought I would share a few pics of my bike with you and views and plans from myself as someone with probably below average knowledge of bikes who will need a bit of help. lol
I always been into bikes my whole life, but only last year passed my test. I have a Fazer600 but wanted something I could buy to fix up myself and learn along the way. Iv been searching for about 4months for a bike to call out to me and when I saw this I immediately wanted it..

My plan is to drop the engine and sort out the dodgy paint job and hopefully get a shine out of it and sort out all the wiring.

Some of the parts have definetly seen better days so rather than clean them up its maybe easier to just replace ??

Except for the little bits like this which clean up quite nicely ..

So iv only got this far in about 3 weeks ..

Progress will be slow due to working away I only get 2 days a week at home sometimes not even that and for some reason the missis and kids want to spend time with me when I am home :| haha

But I can't wait to get stuck in on her and hopefully you all can offer me some sound advice on does and don'ts and whatever other bits of wisdom you can offer smile

My main plans are just to give it a proper good service, change the plugs filters all the bearings etc..
Possibly fit pod filters instead of air box ..
New rear shock ..
Change the subframe .. this will be the biggest job, any thoughts on best/easiest change. I know it's going to require a bit of work but it's something I want to do.

Can't think of anything else at the mo. So that's me and my Exup smile

Great choice of ride

There's a yam workshop manual free to dl in the tech section on the main site

As for leaning up your parts... Things like that fuel pump will clean up ok with a bit of patience. Depending on budget, brackets can be cleaned up using electrolysis with soda and a battery charger. Makes a great job, search google there's loads of info to explain the process.... And it's cheap too

Iv already downloaded a few things of the fzr site and got them printed of into a folder. I'll see if there's anything different on here but I also have a trusty Haynes manual for back up smile

I did wonder if it would clean up, would save me about 50quid if it's just a case of a bit of hardwork cos it works fine.

electrolysis ... I have a feeling Iv seen something by that name with a car battery on YouTube. . I will be sure to have a look smile

Get yourself down to Bapps bolts on Colin Road Scunthorpe and get a load of stainless steel bolts. When you take anything off replace the cruddy old bolts with nice new stainless steel ones. Slap some copper grease on em too. nod

I was going to get a load of new bolts but I didn't think of bapps so thanks for the suggestion! smile

1 thing I wasn't sure about is the Exup valve and cables. The cables have been taken out and I haven't got round to checking but apparently the valve is still there. I'm not sure what sort of condition it will be in but I should hopefully get chance to look this weekend.
Will it just be a case of buying the cables from wemoto and fitting? Is it a straight forward job?

Ok so found 3 pairs of cables .....

Problem is they're all different lengths and one pair has frayed inner wires (which are replaceable)
Next issue is I can't get to my bike properly until weekend to be able to match lengths and see which matches the r model

Ah I see .. haha well don't go out your way mate.

I seen them on wemoto and if I was looking at the right thing they were about 10 .. is that there abouts the going rate? If so I will order it on next pay day when I get a load of new bearings and bits.
