I need a new battery for my 89 Exup, are all model years the same?
They seem to vary on fleabay etc.
I’m looking for a gel battery to see if it gives a bit more life than 3 years, thanks _________________ Nick |

Just search 14L A2 not sure about the gel alternatives
Batteries will last longer if you’re storing over winter or long term if you remove Them and just boost charge every month or so. Trickle chargers will kill them! _________________ AKA Bald headed b'stard |

Like stig says take your battery off and charge it up then hide it in the wardrobe (keep mum Teego) where your wife or partner keeps all her boxes of shoes. She’ll not notice it because they only wear them a couple of times. Doing this will keep the cold and frost away from it. Unless you have a heated garage of course. Over the winter months give it a charge up. I usually do it on the first of the month. (Charge the battery, bet you to it Teego) Doing it this way you’ll get 5 years out of it. I use the Yuasa battery make. 👍 _________________ Bit of advice. Buy a good bed and a good pair of shoes, because if you aren't in one you'll be in the other. |

Hi,
I fit a gel version on my 89 model, it is perfect.
As for winter, well, we are now in summer so will see later
Actually, no: I use the bike all the time, winter, summer, sun, rain, hail and snow, ... |

Tayna batteries on ebay or direct will know which one you need and show quite a large selection. When I looked at FZR1000 exup 89 it showed YB14LA2 they do a gel at £36.95. I have used Tayna twice now and they have been very good. When you look at their site you can check each battery for cranking power. Nuggit< Stig and Teego all know their stuff because they are bang on at 14 A2. I am using a gel battery on my genesis, so far so good, just as good as the wet battery I ordered and fitted to a cbr1000f for a mate. _________________ Well I'll be ..... |

I've recently had to buy a new battery from Tanya Batteries for my daughters suzuki bandit. At first I thought it was the starter relay had packed up but it was the battery. Tanya are pretty quick with delivery and the battery is a no maintenance one. £27.95 and it arrived within in two days.

As it happens, I ordered a new Yuasa Yumicron from Tayna only last night & i've been advised that delivery will be tomorrow. The previous one I bought in 2014 so it did better than expected & better than the gel type that's fitted to my R1.

I've used them for my car battery as well, which was exactly the right battery for what I needed & arrived pre-filled.
I also ordered an Optimate charger that will charge the lithium battery that i've got for my KTM enduro. The Tayna page says they'll compete with anyone quoting a better price than they do, so they're very competitive _________________ Bikes-they're in the blood.

I've used Motobatt before and they've been good. MBTX14AU instead of YB14-LA2
